Varsity Head Coach
Coach Tony Díaz brings deep experience and a proven track record of player development to the Pioneers Boys Soccer Program. An alum of Bishop Watterson High School, Tony was a four-year contributor to a program that reached the District Finals in three of his four seasons. He captained his club teams, Worthington United and Blast FC, leading both to multiple local, state, and regional tournament appearances.
Tony continued his playing career at Ohio Dominican University, competing for the Men’s Soccer Program for four years at the NAIA/NCAA Division II level. He was part of the first ODU men’s team to reach the NAIA National Tournament in 2007, advancing to the Quarterfinals. After a severe knee injury limited his collegiate playing career, Tony remained on staff, gaining valuable coaching experience before graduating in 2010.
Following college, Tony spent five years coaching in The Crew’s Youth Development Program, earning his OSYSA coaching licenses and working alongside coaches from across the Midwest. He then transitioned to the high school game, spending five seasons with New Albany Boys Soccer (four as JVA Coach, one as Secondary Varsity Assistant), contributing to a District Championship in 2016 and District RunnerUp finishes in 2018 and 2019. During the pandemic, Tony joined Westerville South as the Primary Varsity Assistant, helping guide the program to a District Final appearance in 2024.
Tony began his tenure as Head Coach at Olentangy Orange in 2025, where he led the Pioneers to a District Championship in his inaugural season. He now enters his second year at the helm, continuing to build a competitive, high character program focused on development, culture, and excellence.
Tony resides in Dublin with his wife, Roxanne, and their children — Easton, Hayden, and Emersyn. He also works fulltime as a corporate chef for Columbus based Bath & Body Works, where he has been employed since 2016.
JVA Head Coach
Coach Peter Kolp brings more than three decades of coaching experience to the Pioneers Boys Soccer Program, with a deep passion for player development, team culture, and long-term growth. Peter continues to apply his extensive background in both club and high school soccer to support the program’s competitive and developmental goals. In addition to his coaching career, he is in his 26th year as an Intervention Specialist with Worthington Schools, where he is committed to helping students thrive both academically and personally.
Peter’s soccer journey began in 1980 with the Ponte Preta youth system in Campinas, Brazil. After moving to the United States in 1982, he continued his playing career with the original Blast Soccer Team (now Blast FC) and later with COSA Express from 1984 to 1993. At Westerville North High School, he was a fouryear varsity player, earning a starting role for three seasons and helping lead the program to a state semifinal appearance as a sophomore.
He went on to play collegiately at Bowling Green State University, starting for three of his four years and earning the Most Improved Player award as a sophomore. During his time at BGSU, the Falcons won MAC Championships in 1995 and 1996, achieved Top20 national rankings, and made back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances—including a Sweet 16 run during his senior season. In 1997, Peter was selected in the first round of the NPSL Territorial Draft by the Cincinnati Silverbacks.

Peter believes in creating a positive, structured environment where athletes grow in skill, confidence, and character. His coaching philosophy is rooted in effort, respect, and teamwork—values he has carried throughout his entire career.
Peter has been married to his wife, Wendy, for ten years. Together, they are proud parents to three children: Tim (23), Arturo (26), and Isabella (12).
JVB Head Coach
Coach Donovan Rivera brings fresh energy, modern insight, and a player focused approach to the Pioneers Boys Soccer Program. Now entering his second year on staff, Donovan has quickly become a valuable addition to the coaching team, offering a blend of youth, relatability, and evolving soccer knowledge that resonates strongly with developing athletes.
An alum of Westerville South High School, Donovan was a consistent starter his senior year and played a key role in securing the school’s first outright win of the Westerville Trophy. He was named Team MVP and earned Second Team All OCC honors. Before competing for Sporting Columbus and Barca Academy, Donovan captained his youth team in New York, leading them through multiple levels of competition and helping secure the Long Island Cup against top programs across the region.
Donovan is currently attending Wright State University, pursuing an undergraduate degree in Sports Management with a pre-athletic training focus. The 2025 season marked his first year coaching high school soccer, and he continues to grow his coaching skill set while contributing to the development and culture of the Orange program.
Donovan resides in Westerville with his mom, Mabilia, his younger brother, Dylan, and his girlfriend, Anna. He also works at the Abercrombie & Fitch Distribution Warehouse.
Varsity Assistant Coach
Coach Asher Rose brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Pioneers Boys Soccer Program, with a coaching philosophy rooted in the mental side of the game. He emphasizes mindset, resilience, and decision making, an approach he has found effective with players at every level.
A graduate of Westerville South High School, Asher was a member of the 2017 District Championship team. He continued his playing career at Ohio Wesleyan University, competing for four years in the nationally respected Men’s Soccer Program. During his time at OWU, the Battling Bishops reached the NCAC Tournament each season—winning the conference title in 2022—and earned NCAA Tournament berths every year, including a Sweet 16 appearance in 2019. The program consistently ranked in the national top 25, climbing as high as the top 5 during his tenure.
Asher has spent five years coaching across multiple levels, beginning as a head coach with Worthington United, where he earned his USSF D License and is currently pursuing his C License. In 2024, he returned to Ohio Wesleyan as a member of the coaching staff. That season, OWU captured the NCAC regularseason title and advanced to the Round of 32 in the NCAA Tournament. Both as a player and coach, Asher had the opportunity to learn under US Soccer Hall of Fame head coach Jay Martin, the winningest coach in NCAA men’s soccer history.
Asher began his high school coaching career at Olentangy Orange in 2025 as the Assistant Varsity Coach. After helping guide the Pioneers through a successful inaugural season, he now enters his second year on staff, continuing to support the program’s growth, culture, and competitive goals.
Asher lives in Westerville and works fulltime as a high school Social Studies teacher at Linworth High School in Worthington.
Varsity Assistant
Coach Mathias “Chewy” Koo enters his first year on staff with the Pioneers Boys Soccer Program, bringing energy, familiarity, and a strong connection to the Orange community. A 2022 graduate of Olentangy Orange High School, Mathias was a standout player during his time in the program. He served as captain his senior year, led the team in goals in 2021, and recorded the most assists during the 2020 season. He also earned First Team All OCC honors as a senior, cementing himself as one of the program’s top attacking players.
Mathias continued his playing career at Ohio Wesleyan University, graduating in 2026 with a triple major in Business Administration Management, Psychology, and Music. During his four years with the Battling Bishops, he contributed to one of the most consistently competitive programs in NCAA Division III. His teams won NCAC Tournament and Conference Championships in 2022 and 2024, made three NCAA Tournament appearances (all reaching the Round of 32), and were ranked in the national top 25 in 2022, 2023, and 2024. Individually, Mathias was voted Most Improved Player as a junior and Hardest Worker as a senior—recognition that reflects his growth, commitment, and leadership within the program.
Now beginning his coaching career, Mathias brings a player centered perspective, a strong work ethic, and firsthand experience from both high-level high school and collegiate competition. His familiarity with Orange’s culture and expectations adds meaningful value as he transitions into coaching.
Mathias lives parttime in Galena with his parents and parttime in Delaware with his girlfriend, Audrey. He works fulltime at Fifth Third Bank.
